  1. In 1886 Dr. John Pemberton a pharmacist first created Coca-Cola
  2. It was first sold in Jacobs’ Pharmacy in downtown Atlanta, when Coca-Cola was mixed with carbonated water and sold for five cents a glass
  3. It was originally intended as a patent medicine – a medical compound of questionable effectiveness
  4. Coca Cola was originally called  Pemberton's French Wine Coca
  5. Pemberton claimed Coca-Cola cured many diseases which included addiction to morphine, headaches, and impotence
  6. By 1888, three versions of Coca-Cola, which were sold by three separate businesses were available, the other two were called Koke and Yum Yum

Here at Unifor Corporate Supplies we thought we’d give you 5 rumours about Coca Cola that are untrue.

1. Coca-Cola was originally green – nup, Coke was brown ever since it’s launch in 1886

2. Coca-Cola’s top secret formula includes alcohol – no way, during the production of Coca-Cola no alcohol is added,  nor does fermentation takes place

3. Coca-Cola is useful as a household cleaner – as tested by Mythbusters the following was found:

- Coca Cola couldn’t break down rust deposits

- Coca Cola was useful for cleaning chrome

-  Coca Cola was able to clean coins

4. Coca-Cola can be used as pesticides for farmers – when applied to crops or the ground Coca Cola does not in anyway act similarly to pesticides

5. Coca-Cola when combined with MSG becomes an aphrodisiac – would be great but no factual or scientific information can conclude that Coca-Cola is an aphrodisiac
